Daisy Throckmorton is taking her flag football career to the next level.

The McClatchy High School quarterback has signed with Cal Poly after putting together one of the most impressive high school flag football careers in the country. Throckmorton, named MaxPreps California Player of the Year, finished her prep career with more than 16,000 passing yards and 230 touchdown passes.
Those numbers show more than just production. They show consistency, leadership and elite command of an offense. Throckmorton became one of the top names in the rapidly growing girls flag football scene, and her signing is another sign that college opportunities in the sport are expanding.
Flag football is growing fast at both the high school and college levels. More states are sanctioning the sport, more programs are investing resources and more athletes are being recognized for their skills.
Her ability to read defenses, deliver accurate throws and lead a high-powered offense made her one of California’s most decorated players. For younger athletes watching the sport grow, her journey provides a clear example of what is possible.
Throckmorton’s move to Cal Poly is not just a personal milestone. It is part of a larger moment for girls flag football. As the sport gains more visibility, athletes with strong high school résumés are beginning to receive recognition that can open doors beyond graduation.
