Class of 2027 wide receiver Malik Newton made a major statement during the Spring Jamboree in Lakeland, showcasing his talent against two respected programs in Jesuit High School and Evans High School.

Newton consistently delivered in both matchups, flashing the type of ability that immediately catches the attention of coaches and recruiters. Whether it was creating separation, winning contested catches, or making explosive plays downfield, the Clearwater Central Catholic standout proved he can perform against quality competition.
At 6-foot-plus with great size, strong hands, speed, and physicality, Newton has all the tools of a next-level receiver. His ability to dominate in one-on-one situations makes him a reliable go-to target and a serious problem for opposing defenses. Preps Next views Newton as one of the more underrated receivers in the region and undoubtedly a diamond in the rough whose stock is continuing to rise.
Preps Next’s Craig Davis believes Newton has the makeup of a high-impact playmaker heading into the Fall 2026 season for the Marauders.
“Malik is a next-level receiver without question,” Davis stated. “He has the size, the hands, the speed, and most importantly the confidence to make plays in big moments. Once college programs really lock in and evaluate him, the offers are going to continue coming.”
With recruiting interest already beginning to build, Newton looks poised for a breakout campaign this upcoming season. Expect his name to continue gaining traction as he develops into one of the more intriguing young receivers in the state of Florida.
Preps Next will definitely be keeping a close eye on Malik Newton moving forward.
