High School Athlete Noah Knigga Clarifies Pronunciation of His Last Name

In a recent interview with former NFL star Robert Griffin III, high school athlete Noah Knigga and his family finally set the record straight on how to pronounce their last name, revealing that it’s not what people initially thought when Noah first went viral.

The Big Reveal on Pronunciation

On Sunday, Noah Knigga and his family appeared in an interview with Robert Griffin III, providing viewers a deeper glimpse into the Knigga family. During their chat, RGIII humorously referenced Jay-Z and Kanye West’s 2011 hit “N***as In Paris” by asking if the family had visited Paris, France. This light-hearted moment led to a more serious question about the correct pronunciation of their last name. Contrary to the phonetic assumption made by social media, the family explained that it is pronounced “Kih-nay-guh.”

A Humorous Suggestion

Understanding the pronunciation, RGIII suggested that the family should capitalize on the mispronunciation by releasing t-shirts with the slogan “KNIGGA PLEASE.” He believed this would resonate well with the public due to the previous confusion over their last name. Additionally, Noah’s father mentioned that the family has not faced any negative backlash due to their last name.

Noah Knigga Goes Viral

Noah Knigga first gained widespread attention last week when he announced his upcoming visit to West Virginia University. His tweet quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter), with RGIII retweeting it and humorously captioning, “That Naysayer built the arc.” This post significantly amplified the spotlight on the high school athlete.

Pat McAfee’s Take

Pat McAfee also weighed in on the buzz surrounding Noah Knigga during his show. He discussed Noah’s potential in college football while also making light-hearted remarks about his last name, suggesting it would be interesting to hear announcers pronounce it in various sports.

A Dual-Sport Star

Noah Knigga is a standout athlete at Lawrenceburg High School in Indiana, excelling in both basketball and football. As an All-State outside linebacker and tight end, he has recorded impressive stats with 207 tackles, including 42 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, and 20 receptions for 224 yards over three seasons. His prowess extends to the basketball court as well, where he plays as a small forward for the varsity team.

Recent Achievements

In the current 2023-24 basketball season, Noah is averaging eight points, four rebounds, and two assists per game. He was recently honored as the MVP of the Rivertown Classic Basketball Tournament, a title his twin sister Natalie also earned in the girls’ tournament, highlighting the athletic talent within the Knigga family.
